Dear Students and Parents,
Our uniforms were purchased only last year.
It is an expectation that parents and students keep them in top shape so
that they will last for years to come! The school district has spent tens of
thousands of dollars on these uniforms and expects them to last for many
years. (Our former uniforms were at least 10 years old.) Our uniforms
are machine washable. All uniforms should have already been washed at least
once to set the colors. To ensure
that the uniforms continue to look their very best, please read and follow the instructions
listed below. If you have any
questions about these instructions, please contact a uniform coordinator (Teresa Ely at ely4@netzero.net or Kimberlee Wheeler at kimberleewheeler@att.net).
POST THESE INSTRUCTIONS NEAR YOUR WASHER & DRYER.
Do NOT use hot water on anything. Wash on GENTLE cycle in cold water.
Do NOT wash jackets and bib pants together. Jackets have been pre-washed but the bib pants have not. Note: The pants may “bleed” with the first washing.
Do NOT use bleach. Use only NON-CHLORINE detergents.
If a stain occurs you may use “Spray & Wash” and any other NON-CHLORINE stain remover when washing.
Do NOT use fabric softener.
Fasten together all Velcro pieces and zippers to avoid "picking" of the fabric.
Do NOT allow the uniform to sit in washer to avoid unnecessary wrinkling. Remove and dry immediately. Do NOT use dryer sheets.
Dry on low setting. When using a cool setting, uniforms will require very little touch up. Hot heat will remove the press. Hang immediately. Touch up pressing may be desired occasionally. Steam pressing jacket shoulders and collars is required to retain their proper shape and appearance to renew the
heat bonded interfacings.
When completely dry hang jackets in garment bag. Shoulder pads remain slightly damp when removed from the dryer. Allow to air-dry overnight before placing in the garment bag.
Uniforms may be professionally “washed” but dry cleaning is not recommended. If you send the uniform out for cleaning specify” laundry in cold water”. Do NOT dry-clean.
Gauntlets: Hook Velcro closure together to avoid “picking” of fabric. Wash on gentle/cold. Dry on permanent press setting. Only use NON-CHLORINE detergents.
