Jazz Class (M-F 6^th Period)

The McKinney HS Jazz Class is open to all aspiring students who have a desire to study Jazz.  The Course will cover not only theory, but history of jazz and the musicians who were most influential in the development of jazz. 

The Jazz Ensemble is comprised of band students from all of the MHS bands. In order to be in the jazz ensemble, students will need to audition for Mr. Hunley. When needed, students outside of the band program may be recruited to fill in positions that the band is missing (i.e. piano, bass, and guitar). Students will explore jazz history, recordings, musicians, theory, improvisation, and aural training throughout the school year. Jazz Ensemble students are highly encouraged to audition for the Region Jazz Auditions in the fall.
